What’s right?
What is “right” in this moment? What feels right in this moment? This has been one of my favorite questions to ask myself and sit with for at least 30 seconds, as I watch the state of my body and mood shift.
Meena Srinivisaan reminded me of Thich Nhat Hanh’s “Non toothache" meditation, where you take a few moments to remember a previous moment when you experienced a toothache or something that caused a lot of physical discomfort . Once you mentally recall that physical sensation, bring attention to that part of your body and pay attention to the lack of discomfort present in your body.
Bringing attention to the discomfort that is not present in my body, reminds me to think about ALL of the things that feel comfortable to me in the moment. I think of all the things that are physically supporting my body in the moment. I become grateful. With in 30 seconds, I can feel more mental clarity, and I can feel my compassion for myself and others expand.
Give it a try!
